21 TV shows to get you through the rest of this winter & some yummy snacks

One of the biggest questions everyone seems to be asking, “Have you watched anything good lately?” Here is a list of our new absolute favs. Some binged, others watched at a slower pace to fully enjoy every on-screen morsel.

We’ve also included a “What’s up next” section: shows that have been heavily recommended to us. We can’t wait…

Your Honor

A dark story about a father and son embarking on life after their mother and wife pass away. Follow them through life as a judge and seemingly normal high school boy… Things get shady the first episode and keep spiraling throughout the series.

Euphoria

A very dark story following Rue and a group of friends in high school, enduring life’s hardships. Themes of mental illness, drug addiction, and sexual insecurities. * We are currently in the middle of this one as it is better to watch slowly and unravel the messages in each episode. Watch on Crave

Younger

This show is the kind of mindless TV we all need these days. A 40-year-old mother who lies about her age to get back in business, in all departments. Humorous, sexual, empowering, and as we mentioned before, quite mindless.

Little Fires Everywhere Based on Celeste Ng’s bestseller, this at first seems like a suburban whodunnit. But there are much bigger themes here, motherhood, race, class, to name a few.

Normal People Another series based on a bestseller. This is a show set in Ireland where it follows an on and off-again relationship between two high school teens. 30-minute episodes make this show easily watchable.

Bridgerton

This show is getting ALL of the hype right now. Based in early 19th century London, the show covers romance, elegance, drama all with a modern take. Listen closely to the soundtrack! You will likely recognize most of the music that they play during the balls. And isn’t it a huuuge plus when you completely fall in love with the characters?! Yes. We think so too.

The Queen’s Gambit We don’t know anyone that hasn’t loved this one. The plot follows a female chess prodigy on her journey from an orphanage to championships. The set is amazing and it is so action-packed you feel like this could be about a major sports game instead of chess.

Ted Lasso This hilarious series follows US American Football coach Ted Lasso heading to the UK to manage a struggling London football team in the top flight of English football. Feel good, heartwarming and a good laugh.

The Undoing Anything with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant get our thumbs up! This is a psychological thriller that will have you guessing right up to the very last episode.

Dead to Me Two grieving women meet in group therapy and a whole lot of stuff happens after that. Hilarious but dark- we loved this one. Plus Christina Appelgate and Linda Cardellini are awesome!

Vanity Fair Based on the 1848 novel, this historical drama follows the life of Becky Sharpe, a woman that comes from nothing and tries to climb her way up the social ladder, without caring about how this might affect others around her. Watch on CBC gem

Jamies 30 Minute Meals We had to add our favourite cooking show of all time! Jamie Oliver is not afraid to get his hands dirty and make basic ingredients shine, turning every dish into a masterpiece. We have made countless 30-minute meals of his! He makes three dishes in each episode and trust us, they are hard to resist.

All Creatures Great and Small Set in the gorgeous landscape of Yorkshire in the mid-1930s this is lovely glimpse about a vet and the animals and people he encounters. Sometimes all television (and the world) needs is someone with a heart big enough to care for everyone - no matter their size.
